GP TraineesIn 2012 we were authorised as a Teaching Practice. We are only the second practice on the Island to achieve this. A teaching practice offers fully qualified doctors, with experience in hospital medicine, the opportunity to learn about the personal, primary and continuing care of patients and families that is General Practice. They will learn about the management of acute, chronic, recurrent and terminal illness in both the surgery setting and in the patient’s home. Their work in the surgery will also enable them to achieve the higher qualification of Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners – after passing the appropriate examinations. During the placement, the trainee will see and treat patients in exactly the same way as the other doctors, but will always be supervised by a GP trainer. Like all doctors, the trainee, known as a GP Registrar, must meet the standards of care, competence and conduct set out by the General Medical Council. Sometimes a trainee will make video recordings of consultations, after first getting patients' specific consent. If you don't want a consultation videoed, that is perfectly acceptable and you may simply not sign the consent form. |

When you do ask for an appointment, we will usually ask what it is for. Reception
Our team of receptionists and admin staff are amazing multi–taskers who will help you with almost everything! They are very busy, though, and are not magicians, so if they can't give you an appointment straight away, or have to put you 'on hold' for a moment, there is usually a very good reason! Most of our patients are lovely, and very patient (!) for which we thank them. Please help us to help you by understanding when we are busy or dealing with urgent situation.
